Tui Na massage: numerous hand techniques

Some fifty manipulative techniques are used, the most common of which are rolling, circular pressure, zen finger thrust, kneading, friction and muscle stretching to relieve muscles, loosen knots, stimulate blood circulation and rebalance the body's energy.

This technique is based on the theory of meridians and acupuncture points.

They can be classified into three main groups:

  1. The first group of techniques treats muscular, tendon and joint problems.
  2. The second group is acupressure, in which pressure is exerted on acupuncture points with the fingers, palms or elbows to rebalance the energy of the meridians and organs.
  3. The third group of techniques unblocks or corrects deformities caused by joint malposition, thus relieving joint and ligament pain.

How does a Tui Na massage session work?

During a typical session, the practitioner first makes a detailed diagnosis, taking into account energy imbalances throughout the body. He can then choose Tui Na as the treatment method for a given problem. The patient can receive the massage either seated or lying down, depending on the protocol envisaged.

This treatment is usually performed in comfortable clothing. Occasionally, however, the therapist will need to massage in depth, sometimes even using certain massage oils, and will therefore ask you to remove some of your clothing.

In addition, to harmonize the treatment, moxas, cupping or acupuncture can be used to rebalance the meridians.
