What techniques are used in a therapeutic massage?

Massage therapists use a variety of manual and mechanical massage techniques, such as kneading, palpating, rolling, effleurage, vibration, or gentle or toning mobilizations to soothe, relax or stimulate your body. They target all parts of the body, including joints and muscles, following meridians, reflexes and acupressure points. With your permission, they can also use essential oils, cupping or mobilization techniques to release muscle tension and reduce pain.

Different techniques and approaches enable practitioners to respond to the individual needs of each patient. Therapeutic massages are recommended for relaxation, revitalization and letting go.

What's the difference between therapeutic and relaxing massage?

Although therapeutic massage and relaxation massage share the goal of relieving tension and improving well-being, their approaches and objectives are distinct.

Therapeutic massage to find and work on the cause of your ailments.

Massage therapy goes beyond the simple relief of superficial aches and pains. In this approach, the therapist works in depth to identify the underlying causes of your aches and pains. These may be chronic pain, injury, poor posture, muscular dysfunction or long-term tension.
The therapist takes the time to understand the origin of your pain and tension, analyzing your posture and lifestyle habits, and focusing on specific areas that require particular attention. The aim is to get to the root of the problem and promote lasting healing. The techniques used are tailored to the patient's individual needs.

Relaxing massage, localized on painful areas to relieve pain

Relaxing massage focuses on the immediate relief of tension and stress. It doesn't seek to analyze the cause of the pain, but rather to offer an immediate sense of well-being. The aim is to loosen muscles and bring about a feeling of general relaxation.
The techniques used in a relaxing massage are gentler and aim to release superficial tension, improve circulation and soothe the body, without getting into deeper issues. This type of massage is ideal for quick relief and a feeling of lightness.

In a nutshell: Whether you choose a therapeutic or a relaxing massage, the important thing is to meet your specific needs and offer you the treatment that's right for you. If you have persistent pain or chronic muscular tension, a therapeutic massage will be particularly beneficial. If you're simply looking to relax and relieve everyday tension, a relaxing massage is an excellent choice.

What are the differences between therapeutic massage and relaxation massage?

Therapeutic massage is a practice used to relieve muscular pain, improve blood and lymph circulation, eliminate toxins and promote physical and mental relaxation. It helps you become aware of your body posture. It has therapeutic objectives.

This massage is therefore very different from a relaxation massage in that it is tailor-made, with the therapist massaging painful areas and focusing on those areas that may be the cause of the pain. Practitioners don't aim for relaxation, but rather to rebalance the body and relieve tension.

Relaxing massage aims to relax you by massaging different parts of the body, such as the back, legs, feet, face, scalp, arms and hands. Our masseuses and masseurs use gentle techniques to help you let go and release muscular tension. It's a cocooning moment to recharge your batteries!

The therapist can focus on the areas you prefer (back, legs, arches...). The aim is to relax and soothe your body. Unlike spas, beauty salons, massage parlors, gyms or fitness clubs, these massages are given by therapists who are also trained and certified in other therapeutic techniques (therapeutic massage, reflexology, lymphatic drainage...) and can therefore advise you as needed.

For those who prefer targeted massages on the face and head, we also offer facial massages.

And for those who particularly appreciate foot massages, we also practice reflexology.
