When do you need lymphatic drainage?

Do you have heavy, swollen or painful legs, or cellulite problems? Your venous circulation is causing you problems. You're pregnant or going through a hormonal transition. You've just had surgery. Feeling tired or stressed?

Lymphatic drainage effectively combats edema(water retention and venous return).

It is particularly recommended for pregnant women who often experience heavy legs due to the pressure exerted by the baby and the hormonal upheaval.

It's also excellent for people who sit for long periods or are sedentary, as lack of activity in the legs encourages lymphatic and venous problems.

In addition, as a gentle and regular treatment, it can have an effect on sleep. sleepdigestion and stress It stimulates the parasympathetic system responsible for our internal well-being.

In the event of swelling or rapid weight gain, consult your doctor.

What is lymphatic drainage?

Lymphatic drainage is a gentle manual technique that respects the rhythm, direction and pressure of the lymphatic system.

It stimulates the latter, with positive effects on heavy legs and the body's evacuation, recovery and cleansing systems (venous, digestive, skin, urinary and sleep).

It helps detoxify the body, while strengthening the immune system.

How does drainage feel?

Lymphatic drainage provides a feeling of well-being and lightness, as lymph is drained towards the veins, the heart and finally the urine. Lymphatic circulation is stimulated and toxins evacuated.

At the end of a drainage session, you may feel tired for a few minutes. This effect dissipates very quickly (our bodies being more sensitive to stress than to relaxation).

How to optimize the effects of drainage?

To facilitate lymphatic drainage of our body, we accompany it with good hydration and a balanced diet, but also with regular physical activity such as brisk walking, swimming or any fitness activity in water.

Our therapist, Caroline Mattheycan advise and refer you for compression or medical follow-up in cases of suspected venous insufficiency or lipoedema.

What is lymph and what does it do?

Lymph is a colorless liquid derived from blood plasma, circulating in lymphatic vessels thanks to their contractions and our body's movements. Like a waste evacuation system, it drains excess fluids, toxins, microbes and cellular debris.

Nodes along the lymphatic vessels filter the lymph and eliminate the toxins, microbes and debris it carries.

When lymph circulation is impaired, the body can become weakened and intoxicated, which can lead to a variety of health problems: increased risk of infection in affected limbs, swollen limbs, heavy and painful legs, increased risk of thrombosis and ulcers, and so on.

The Benefits of Lymphatic Drainage

Manual lymphatic drainage offers numerous benefits for both the body and the mind.

  • It helps relieve heavy legs, swelling, and water retention, while stimulating lymphatic and venous circulation.
  • It also helps eliminate toxins and supports the immune system.
  • It is essential for recovery after surgery.
  • In addition to its physiological benefits, this treatment promotes deep relaxation and helps reduce stress, thereby improving overall well-being.
