Losing weight for the long term isn’t just about following a diet. Everyone has their own habits, lifestyle, metabolism, and goals. At La Clinique Naturelle, we offer personalized support to help you reach a healthy weight without excessive deprivation or one-size-fits-all solutions. Together, we’ll implement realistic, gradual changes tailored to your daily life to achieve lasting results and improve your health and quality of life.

What areas do you support?

To achieve lasting weight loss, we will work together on four key areas:

  • Diet: establish healthy eating habits adapted to your tastes and needs, without frustrating deprivation.
  • Physical activity: gradually build up a sports routine that suits you best to achieve rapid, lasting results.
  • Stress management: explore techniques for reducing stress, an often overlooked but crucial factor in the success of your career.
  • Food supplements: if necessary, we will consider taking appropriate food supplements to support your body and your overall well-being.

These pillars work in synergy to offer you comprehensive, tailor-made support.

What does accompaniment involve?

Support takes the form of a series of regular appointments with our nutritionist, designed to provide you with all-round coaching.

  • First appointment (1 hour): an in-depth interview to take stock of your situation, define your initial goals and lay the foundations for your personalized program. Weight measurement using an impedance meter.
  • Follow-up appointments (30 minutes): every two weeks or so, we'll meet to review progress, adjust goals and set new milestones. Weight measurement with an impedance meter. Whether you've achieved your goals or encountered difficulties, these appointments are essential to assess your progress together, discuss any difficulties you may be experiencing and adapt your program.

This flexible, responsive support allows you to move forward at your own pace, while benefiting from constant, personalized assistance.

Throughout the coaching process, you'll be able to talk to your nutritionist by email.

Is this coaching right for me?

There is no single profile for someone who wants to lose weight. Some people are looking to lose a few kilos, while others are dealing with long-standing weight gain or challenges related to their health or lifestyle. Whatever your goal, the support we provide is tailored to your situation, your pace, and your needs.

It’s common to feel like you’re eating very little but still not losing weight. Several factors can explain this situation: unbalanced eating habits despite eating small portions, a lack of physical activity, insufficient sleep, stress, certain medications, or hormonal imbalances. Further restricting your diet is generally not the solution and can even make weight loss more difficult in the long run. During our consultations, we’ll work together to analyze your diet, lifestyle, and the various factors that may be influencing your weight in order to develop a tailored and realistic strategy.

Diets, apps, meal replacements, fasting, exercise programs… Many people come to see me after trying numerous methods without achieving lasting results. While some of these methods lead to rapid weight loss, they’re often difficult to stick with and result in regaining the lost weight. The goal of coaching isn’t to offer you yet another diet, but to understand why previous approaches haven’t worked and to work with you to develop a personalized plan that fits your daily routine and lifestyle.

The well-known “yo-yo effect” is a very common occurrence. After a period of dietary restriction, it’s common to gradually regain the weight you’ve lost—or even gain more. This phenomenon can be discouraging and lead to a loss of confidence. Our support is designed to help you break free from this cycle of dieting by focusing on gradual, sustainable changes. The goal is to adopt a balanced diet that you can maintain over time, without excessive frustration or feelings of failure.

Stress, emotions, fatigue, or boredom can have a significant impact on our eating habits. Emotional eating doesn’t necessarily mean a lack of willpower. It is often a complex mechanism that is important to understand rather than to feel guilty about. Together, we identify the situations that trigger these behaviors and develop practical strategies to restore a more peaceful relationship with food. When appropriate, we may also suggest working collaboratively with other therapists at La Clinique Naturelle.

Hormonal changes associated with perimenopause and menopause can contribute to weight gain, particularly around the abdomen, while making it harder to lose weight. These changes are sometimes accompanied by fatigue, sleep disturbances, or a decrease in physical activity. Our support takes this unique stage of life into account to provide tailored nutritional advice and realistic goals, without resorting to restrictive diets.

PCOS may be accompanied by insulin resistance, weight gain, or difficulty losing weight. Not all women with PCOS experience the same symptoms, which is why personalized care is essential. During consultations, we tailor dietary advice to your specific situation, with the goal of promoting better weight management while taking into account your health status and any ongoing treatments.

Hypothyroidism can slow down your metabolism and make weight loss more difficult, even when your treatment is well-balanced. While medical care remains essential, your diet and lifestyle habits can also play a role in your overall well-being. Nutritional coaching is not a substitute for medical care, but rather complements it by helping you establish habits that are tailored to your situation and compatible with your treatment.

Changing your eating habits takes time, and it’s normal to go through periods of discouragement. Coaching isn’t just about receiving a meal plan. It also provides a framework, regular follow-up, and progressive goals that help you stay motivated and adjust the advice based on the challenges you face. The goal is to build habits that you can maintain over the long term, without striving for perfection.

Even moderate weight loss can have a positive impact on your well-being, self-confidence, or certain health indicators. The goal is not to follow a strict diet for a few weeks, but to gradually adopt sustainable eating habits. During your initial consultations, your weight loss goal is set in collaboration with your nutritionist, taking into account your health, body type, lifestyle, and expectations. This approach helps set a realistic goal tailored to your situation, while prioritizing long-term results.

When significant weight loss is planned, it’s essential to have support to protect your health and stay motivated over the long term. Your goal is set with your nutritionist based on your situation, medical history, current health status, and expected benefits. It’s sometimes necessary to reassess initial expectations in order to set realistic, gradual, and achievable goals. The plan is then developed step by step, with regular follow-ups to adjust the advice as you progress. Depending on your needs, nutritional coaching can also be integrated into a multidisciplinary care plan with other therapists at La Clinique Naturelle.

Why Choose Weight-Loss Coaching at La Clinique Naturelle?

Losing weight isn’t just about diet. Stress, sleep, emotions, certain medical conditions, and hormonal changes can also affect your weight and make the process more challenging. That’s why our support goes beyond a standardized diet plan.

Our support is based on current scientific recommendations in nutrition and takes a personalized approach. It is provided by a nutritionist certified by ASCA and RME.

Our goal is not to help you lose weight as quickly as possible, but to help you achieve lasting balance. Your goals are set with your nutritionist based on your health, lifestyle, and expectations. Through regular follow-ups, the advice is adjusted as you progress to promote lasting results and minimize the risk of weight regain.

At La Clinique Naturelle, your nutritionist works as part of a team of therapists with complementary skills. Collaboration among these professionals enriches each treatment plan and, when appropriate, allows us to refer you to the services best suited to your situation (psychology, naturopathy, acupuncture, etc.).

Nutritional coaching is designed to complement medical care. It is not a substitute for the care provided by your doctor or other healthcare professionals. If your situation requires it, our support can be integrated into your medical care and, with your consent, coordinated with your doctor’s recommendations to ensure a consistent approach.

Why is it sometimes hard to lose weight?

Weight loss doesn't depend solely on willpower or the number of calories consumed. Many factors can influence your weight and explain why results are slow to appear despite your efforts. Identifying these factors is an essential step in developing a support plan that's truly tailored to your situation.

Simply eating less isn’t enough to lose weight. Unbalanced meals, inappropriate portion sizes, frequent snacking, or an overly restrictive diet can, in the long run, make it harder to lose weight. The goal is to adopt a varied, balanced diet that fits your lifestyle, rather than following a diet that’s difficult to maintain.

Chronic stress can influence our eating habits and trigger cravings for sugary or fatty foods. For some people, emotions, anxiety, or fatigue lead to snacking or what is known as “emotional eating.” Understanding these mechanisms allows us to implement appropriate solutions without feeling guilty.

Insufficient sleep or disrupted sleep can affect the hormones that regulate hunger and fullness. Lack of sleep also contributes to fatigue, which can make it harder to exercise or maintain healthy eating habits.

Physical activity isn’t just about burning calories. It also helps maintain muscle mass, improves physical fitness, promotes well-being, and contributes to long-term weight management. However, it isn’t necessary to engage in intense exercise: gradual changes tailored to your fitness level are often more effective and sustainable.

Certain stages of life, such as perimenopause or menopause, can make weight loss more difficult. Conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) or certain endocrine disorders can also affect metabolism. In these situations, nutritional guidance is tailored to take these specific factors into account.

Hypothyroidism, certain chronic conditions, and certain medications can contribute to weight gain or slow down weight loss. Nutritional coaching is not a substitute for medical care, but it can complement it by tailoring advice to your specific situation and helping you achieve realistic goals.

There is no one-size-fits-all method for losing weight. Your personal history, habits, health, level of physical activity, family and work environments, and daily constraints all influence your journey. That’s why personalized support generally leads to more lasting results than a standardized approach.

That is precisely why the first consultation is dedicated to a comprehensive assessment of your situation. Together, we’ll work to understand the various factors that may influence your weight so that we can develop a support plan tailored to your needs, goals, and lifestyle.

We discuss nutrition in this article: “Weight Loss: How Can Your Nutritionist Help You Lose Weight Long-Term?”

In most industrialized countries, the proportion of overweight and obese adults is historically high. In fact, over 30% of the Swiss population is not at a healthy weight, and over 10% is obese. Many of these overweight people suffer from obesity. Many would like to take action to feel better about themselves and improve their health. The word diet is on many lips, in magazines, books and social networks. People dream of rapid weight loss. According to most of these diets, to lose weight we have to reduce our daily calorie intake by depriving ourselves. But what does the word "diet" actually mean?

A diet is first and foremost a way of eating (the Mediterranean diet, for example) or a dietary protocol in a specific therapeutic context, such as following an operation or illness. On the other hand, "going on a diet" is undeniably associated with a "slimming program" that results in calorie restriction with the sole aim of losing weight by imposing deprivations on the body that can be deleterious. So beware, "going on a diet" is not recommended, especially if undertaken without support.

We discuss nutrition in this article: “The Health Benefits of Diet: Why Eating Well Can Improve Your Quality of Life?”

Taking care of yourself starts with eating well. Eating isn't just about filling your stomach. Eating is first and foremost the best way to provide your body with what it needs to function at its best: to be healthy and in better shape!

When you provide your body with the right nutrients, it will defend itself better against seasonal viruses, the free radicals responsible for aging, and diseases such as cancer and cardiovascular disease. Cognitive faculties can also be enhanced by certain foods.

A good diet also helps maintain the microbiota (intestinal flora) and the nervous and hormonal systems. Among other things, these balance our moods and sense of well-being.

Are there diets that are good for you, easy to follow and without starvation and/or deficiencies?

Studies have shown that following the Mediterranean diet (1) or the Okinawa diet (2) leads to healthier, longer lives:

The PREDIMED study, with 7447 participants, is the largest interventional study ever carried out on the Mediterranean diet. It confirmed the prevention of cardiovascular disease, increased life expectancy and even reduced the risk of Alzheimer's disease.
