BLOATING : WHICH
SUPPORTS IN NATURAL MEDICINE?

What bloating is?

Bloating is caused by the accumulation of gas in the intestines (the accumulation of air in the stomach is called aerophagia).

Gas accumulating in the intestines can cause abdominal pain and flatulence (especially after lunch). This common condition can cause uncomfortable sensations of bloating and distension, but is generally benign in most cases.

Understanding the causes and symptoms of bloating can help you better manage these unpleasant sensations. Bloating is caused by the fermentation or putrifaction of certain foods, as well as when air is swallowed while eating, drinking or talking.

When to consult a doctor?

If the pain is acute or chronic, or if it is accompanied by other symptoms such as intense abdominal pain, unexplained weight loss or changes in bowel habits, we strongly recommend that you consult your doctor.

Lifestyle and nutrition to reduce bloating

A few changes in our daily routine can sometimes help restore normal transit:

  • Eat slowly and chew well to reduce air intake.
  • Avoid foods that trigger bloating (known as fermentable foods), such as beans, cabbage, cauliflower, onions, garlic, leeks, salsify, sweets and dairy products for some people.
  • Drink enough water to aid digestion, especially before and between meals (but not too much).
  • Exercise regularly, which can help move gas through the digestive system.
  • Avoid excessive consumption of soft drinks and chewing gum.

For a personalized accompaniment, you can consult a nutritionist who will help you in the composition of your plate. For more information, click here.

Colon hydrology for bloating?

Bloating can be due to constipation, but also to a disturbance in the balance of intestinal bacteria.

Hydrological cleansing of the large intestine helps to evacuate accumulated and encrusted matter. This helps to restore the stool elimination process.

Hydrology also helps to rebalance intestinal flora (notably by adding certain nutrients such as probiotics to the water used for cleansing).
