How do group lessons work?

In group classes (limited to 6 people), the emphasis is on a dynamic and inclusive approach. Each session skilfully blends the timeless foundations of Joseph Pilates with recent scientific breakthroughs on the fascial system. We explore a harmonious combination of traditional Pilates and myofascial movements to cultivate the elasticity and resilience of our fascia.

During our session, we also merge breathing with movement. By encouraging conscious breathing, we strengthen the mind-body connection, maximizing the benefits of Pilates for each participant.

How do private lessons work?

In private sessions, we begin the first meeting with a postural assessment. This analysis enables us to understand each participant's posture, muscular imbalances and any mobility limitations. By understanding each person's specific needs and challenges, we tailor Pilates sessions to optimally address their individual goals and concerns. By focusing on posture, muscle strengthening and mobility, we lay the foundations for progressive and effective learning.

Through a variety of adapted exercises, we encourage each participant to progress at their own pace and discover their full potential. Our aim is to create an enriching and stimulating experience, where you feel supported and inspired in your journey towards physical and mental well-being.

What is Pilates?

Pilates is based on the principles of breathing, concentration, control, fluidity, precision and centering. The practice aims to strengthen the body holistically and promote a better connection between body and mind.

This fitness method, created by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century, is much more than a simple exercise program.

Joseph Pilates originally developed his exercises to rehabilitate wounded soldiers during the First World War. He firmly believed in the importance of core stability, posture and breathing for optimal health. These founding principles remain at the heart of the Pilates method today.

Over the decades, our understanding of the human body has evolved considerably. Major advances in physiology, biomechanics and neurology have enriched our approach to Pilates.

For example, the notion of biotensegrity, introduced by Dr Stephen Levin, has enabled us to understand the body as an interconnected system of dynamic structures, where tension and compression play a crucial role in maintaining stability and mobility.

In-depth studies on breathing have also revealed its essential role in regulating the nervous system, managing stress and improving physical performance.

By integrating these advances into our Pilates practices, we can offer our students an even more enriching and holistic experience.

The Pilates method has evolved to adapt to new discoveries and the changing needs of modern society. It now offers an integrated approach to movement, breathing and body awarenessenabling everyone to cultivate optimal health, functional strength and overall well-being.

Pilates and muscle strengthening?

Pilates is a discipline that borrows from a variety of backgrounds to create a unique blend of yoga, gymnastics and stretching. With an emphasis on abdominal and muscle-strengthening exercises, it aims to improve physical condition while working the deep muscles. Stretching and posture are at the heart of this practice, helping to tone and sculpt the body while maintaining a healthy spine. Unlike some forms of intense fitness, Pilates focuses on a gentler approach, encouraging body awareness and precise joint movements. Pilates exercises are performed in our studio, equipped with floor mats, and focus on strengthening the pelvic floor and deep muscles. By combining breathing with every movement, Pilates helps to increase flexibility, tone muscles and lengthen the body in a harmonious way, offering a truly gentle gym for physical and mental well-being.
