Therapist in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)
Who is Mickael?
Passionate about Chinese Martial Arts and Health, it was only natural that Mickael should turn to TCM. Mickael has always been fascinated by the Martial Arts, which he has practiced from an early age. His experience of over 30 years in Kung-Fu and Tai Ji Quan enabled him to meet Chinese masters who very often also practised TCM. Thanks to the Martial Arts, he was able to obtain the DEJEPS (Diplôme d'Etat de la Jeunesse et de l'Education Populaire et Sportive). Over the past 20 years, Mickael has continued to learn, train and perfect his skills in the various disciplines of Traditional Chinese Medicine: Acupuncture, Tui Na and Pharmacopoeia. He has also taught this art in various schools. Finally, he completed a Master's degree in TCM at Nanjing University and practiced clinically in various hospitals in Nanjing, Zhangjiagang and Shanghai.
The course of a TCM treatment with Mickael
Treatments are given after an anamnesis based on the "4 Times" of the energy balance (Si Zhen 四诊), namely an Interrogatory exchange (When Zhen 问诊), Observation (Wang Zhen 望诊), Hearing/Olfaction (When Zhen 闻诊), and Palpation (Qie Zhen 切诊) which includes tongue observation and pulse taking. As each patient is unique, each treatment is unique. The treatment implemented will depend on the syndrome*, the request and the need of the patient, for which Mickael uses the different techniques of TCM which are Acupuncture, Tui Na and Pharmacopoeia. It is common to use one, two or all three techniques to optimize treatment. The number of sessions and frequency are determined according to the acute or chronic nature of the pathology; it often takes several sessions to overcome a syndrome, but the effects can be felt as early as the first session. * (The Zheng 证 Syndrome in TCM is the pathological synthesis of all the patient's different signs and symptoms, according to location, nature, vital and perverse state, etiology, at a given moment and according to the classification of the 8 principles, e.g. Liver Qi stagnation, Kidney Yin emptying, etc.).
Martial arts and TCM
Martial arts and TCM are like yin and yang, two aspects of the same goal: maintaining health and strengthening the body.
- Martial arts are a means of circulating Qi (energy) and Blood. Balance yin and yang through training and coordination to strengthen the body.
- TCM uses meridians and acupuncture points to rebalance the circulation of Qi, Blood and Organ Fluids, as well as Yin and Yang, in order to maintain health and strengthen the body (a method known as Yang Sheng Fa 养生法), or to restore health.
It's interesting to note that TCM treatment methods are derived from martial arts strategies, and that martial arts vital points are derived from TCM acupuncture points.
